Editorial: The Antigonish Review Returns
We want to begin this special double issue by thanking our readers, writers, past editors, subscribers, and donors for their continued support, especially as we took a sudden hiatus in 2025. We hope this new issue will reignite the longtime love and dedication so many artists have for The Antigonish Review.
In recent years as The Antigonish Review faced multiple crises, compounded by COVID and widespread restrictions, many people came to its rescue. The indefatigable Janette Fecteau (poetry editor), who carries the journal’s history with her like a gift, has been integral in getting The Antigonish Review running again. Along with Janette, the small but mighty editorial team includes Suzanne Stewart (fiction) and David Hickey (poetry) as well as Navneet Kaur (Administrative Assistant extraordinaire). Together with essential funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, St. Francis Xavier University offers a supportive home for the journal and its significant history.
I also want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the incoming Editor of The Antigonish Review and to thank Doug Smith (outgoing Editor) for his work, poetic eye, and dedication to the journal (2022-2025). I am honoured to work on The Antigonish Review and am humbled when I read its back issues and long list of previous contributors, editors, and supporters.
We hope you enjoy these stories we share.
