The Antigonish Review announces its new WRITER OF THE YEAR Contest!


 Category for 2022: POETRY



One (1) winner and three shortlisted writers


The winner’s work will appear in three issues of the 2022 publication year, followed by an interview with the editor in the fourth issue

The three (3) short-listed writers will have poems published in the first issue of the 2022 publication year



Entries must be received (or postmarked) by 1 October 2021



Poems may be on any subject. Total entry not to exceed 5 pages. Entries might be one longer poem, or several shorter poems (previously published works, works accepted for publication, or simultaneous submissions are ineligible. For the purposes of this contest, works that have appeared on blogs, online magazines, or social media sites are also ineligible).


Entries must be typed, double-spaced, on one side of page (in .doc or .docx format). Please include a separate cover sheet containing your identifying information as well as the titles of all entries. Your name must appear ONLY on the cover page.


Contest Fee:

The fee for first entry is $30.00 CDN. Additional entries after the first contest entry are $10.00 CDN. Your first entry includes a one-year subscription to The Antigonish Review.
