The Poet Grow-Op: TAR's
spotlight on student poetry, is open to students (age doesn't
matter) enrolled in a post-secondary institution at the time
of submission.
Please send your work to tar@stfx.ca
with your poem(s) attached in a .doc file. If you submit multiple
poems, please send them as individual files. .doc file names
should be the title of its poem. Your email's subject line
must be in the following form: Name/pseudonym. Poet Grow-Op
Submission.
No more than three poems per submission.
Response to your work will be given within approximately four
to eight weeks. Please do not re-submit to The Poet Grow-Op
until you've heard back from us.
Works must be previously unpublished in any form. TAR retains
the first English-language, North American serial rights.
All other rights to the work remain yours and you may reprint
in whatever manner you choose after publication on our website.
TAR would appreciate being acknowledged in any subsequent
publications.
Submissions will not be returned. We do not accept hard copies.
Please include your postal address and a brief third-person
biography of about 50 words or less. Let us know your school,
field and year of study. Yyou do not have to be an English
student to submit!), literary projects, favourite ice cream
or wine vintage, and anything else!
As things are, and as fundamentally
they must always be, poetry is not a career, but a mug's game.
No honest poet can ever feel quite sure of the permanent value
of what he has written. He my have wasted his time and messed
up his life for nothing.
